Thousands Left Without Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Nearly 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the state, producing powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Broad Impact
Locals reported giant hailstones measuring up to seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews activated to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, around 1,000 households in the southern state also faced power outages after Melbourne recorded its wettest day in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the state, primarily for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

- Wyndham area - 179 calls for assistance
At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28k energy customers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both areas.
Medical Alert
Public health experts cautioned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the state.
