Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
